Pipers Farm Awards

 We are delighted to have been named the Best Local Food Producer for the UK & Ireland. Having been named regional champions last month, we were presented with the national award at the House of Lords last week - We were absolutely delighted & thrilled with the  To read more of the judges comments take a look here.

 

Lamb Steaks: Judges Comments
Texture: Fibrous, but tender and melt in the mouth.

Taste: Good depth of flavour & rich fat flavour.

 

Back Bacon: Judges Comments
Appearance: Nice & thick and not watery. Ideal proportion of fat to meat.

Texture: Good melting fat and firm texture with great mouth feel.

Taste: Full bodied bacon flavour and not salty. Very tasty - the judges all wanted more. 

 

Pork Loin: Judges Comments
Texture: Fibrous, but tender and melt in the mouth.

Taste: Good depth of flavour & rich fat flavour.

 

Lamb Steaks: Judges Comments
Appearance: Good dense red, unusual as has been butchered to have no fat.

Texture: Nice firm meaty texture, but tender to bite.

Taste: Excellent beef flavour, good length, lack of fat does't affect taste.

The Devon Tourism Awards - a celebration of all that Devon has to offer and in association with Food & Drink Devon we were absolutely delighted to pick up two Gold awards - one for our Handmade Lamb and Mint Pie and one for our Red Ruby Steaks. Rounding off a brilliant year for us in terms of awards and it's so nice to see all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes being recognised.

 

Taste of the West Retail Award 2011 - Silver
We are delighted to have been awarded Silver in the Taste of the West Retail awards! We fought strong competition with entries from all over the South-West, but were thrilled that our shop was awarded the Silver prize in the Local Retail Outlet category. The category recognises food shops who excel in offering local produce, along with superb standards of customer service and a good overall shopping experience.

Hung for 3 weeks, the Lamb steaks are perfectly trimmed, fat-free and yet have a wonderfully rounded depth of flavour. Each steak is presented individually and needs only a few minutes in cool water to be 'ready to cook'.
