Cobi Bike

In August of this year, my brother and 2 others undertook a monumental challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK. Along with Jack Cole & Ian Clegg, he cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End. Although a relatively popular route to undertake these days, they were the first to have ever undertaken the trip on a 7 seater bike! And to make the route that little bit harder, they cycled via all the major Cancer Research centres in the country. 4 weeks and 1200 miles later, they reached Lands End on the 28th of August, having enjoyed the company of around 250 other cyclists on their quite remarkable contraption!
Hoping to raise £50,000, the three of them really did achieve an amazing feat. I joined them for just 150 of the miles, and came to realise just how difficult cycling a 200kg bike, with no gears, such a distance was. The hills were absolutely punishing - the weather didn't help a few times either - but the downhills were certainly exhilarating and the whole experience truly memorable. Below are just a few of the photos of the trip, and if you would like to see some more please do pop along to www.cobiuk.com and have a look.
As part of the fundraising effort, Ed(my brother!) has organised an online auction of various items collected along the way. Included is the cycle helmet worn by Sir Steve Redgrave in his recent Trans-America ride, and also a one off offer to enjoy a Pipers Farm experience. Up to four people will be treated to a day of learning all about the farm, the butchery and at the end of the day enjoy a fantastic dinner here of all the fruits of your days experience!
Please do take a look - the bike is certainly unlike anything else!

There's no doubt that the Winter can have its drawbacks as a farmer! But I don't think there can be much better than the stunning sights of the Winter morning sun! I just couldn't resist a picture while walking Fly up the fields this morning - and by the looks of things the ducks don't mind a bit of Winter sun either!
