If you are looking to buy beef online but have not tried ours before, here's a little introduction so that you know exactly what will be delivered!
All of our beef is pure Red Ruby, a breed native to the South West of Britain, particularly Devon. The Red Ruby is a distinctive red colour, and is supposedly one of the oldest beef breeds in existence. It has become much less popular in modern times due to the increase in demand for rapidly growing continental breeds. We fully believe that the quality of beef from a slower maturing breed such as the Red Ruby is far superior- we grow our cattle for three years, letting them reach natural maturity on a grass fed diet.

The balance of fat is a vital factor in the flavour of the meat and unlike modern breeds, the Devon Red Ruby naturally lays down intra-muscular fat which produces wonderful marbling with a fine texture. So even if you don't like fat on your beef, there really is no need to buy it, as you can have great flavour without it! All of our beef is hung for four full weeks, which further develops the depth of flavour and creates a magical tenderness.

With the summer drawing to a close, and with the cooler autumnal nights moving in-BBQ season is very much over. But al fresco cooking certainly shouldn’t be! On the farm we have one of Dingley Dell's wonderful wood burning pizza ovens, something that has provided us with immense pleasure and some fantastic and innovative ways of cooking fresh Pipers Farm meat.
Powered solely by wood, we have come to realise that the oven is adept at cooking almost EVERYTHING. This is something we encourage you to try too. Below are some of the photos of our various efforts-from make-your-own pizzas with the whole family, to Roasting pretty much any roasting joint that takes your fancy to last years effort of cooking the entire Christmas dinner in the oven! (except the sprouts!)
Wood fired cooking really does add to the flavours of the meat, and also provides everyone with great sense of fun & theatre that is so different from everyday cooking! It truly is a unique and very rustic experience that has turned out to be part of our everyday cooking experiences! Imagine the feeling of liberation when using our online meat delivery service, straight to the outdoor pizza oven, bypassing your house entirely.
